The secretary-general of PS, Pedro Santos Carneiro, considered that Prime Minister Luís Montenegro took an "important" step, but stated that the party is still only "halfway" in evaluating the State Budget proposal for 2027.
Carneiro set "four conditions" that he considered to be "preparatory of this dialogue" on the Budget proposal. These conditions serve as the basis for the party's potential positioning regarding the budget document.
The PS's position arises at a crucial phase of the budgetary process, in which the party is evaluating whether it will support or not the proposal presented by the Government. The party maintains a cautious stance, demanding compliance with certain conditions before making a definitive decision.
This approach reflects the importance of PS as a relevant political force in the Portuguese parliamentary landscape, whose support or opposition may be decisive for the approval of the State Budget for 2027.
