Bragança University Replaces Polytechnic to "Work More with the Region and Attract Talent" in the Interior

SIC Notícias31 August 2026 at 14:39

The Polytechnic Institute of Bragança will be replaced by a university, in a transformation that aims to "work more with the region and attract talent" in the interior of the country.

With this change, there will be an expansion of educational offerings in areas that until now were exclusively reserved for universities, thus expanding the possibilities of choice for students.

Currently, the Polytechnic of Bragança hosts 10 thousand students, of which 30% are foreign students, which demonstrates the international attraction capacity of the institution.

This transformation represents a significant change in the higher education landscape of Portugal's interior, seeking to reinforce the role of the institution in boosting the region.
