El Periódico Mediterráneo - General31 August 2026 at 12:50

The Municipal Group of Compromís filed a complaint regarding the humanitarian aid collected in Castelló for the victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela. According to the political group, the 24,000 kilos of aid sent from Castelló did not reach the people affected by the natural disaster.

The municipality of Castelló is governed by Begoña Carrasco, and the Municipal Group of Compromís announced that it will request explanations from the municipal executive about the destination of this humanitarian aid.

The aid collection was organized to support the people affected by the earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela, with a significant quantity of emergency materials and humanitarian assistance being sent.

However, the cargo that should have arrived in the South American country remains undelivered, leaving the populations who should have received the support collected in Castelló without assistance.

Government reserves R$ 44.8 billion for parliamentary amendments in 2027

The Lula government reserved R$ 44.8 billion for parliamentary amendments in the 2027 Annual Budget Bill (PLOA), an increase of R$ 4 billion compared to the proposal for 2026. The amount is expected to be higher after Congressional approval, since in 2026, R$ 40.8 billion was reserved, but the approved amount reached R$ 50 billion. Mandatory amendments are those the government is obligated to pay, while non-mandatory ones depend on available space in the Budget. There are three types of amendments: individual, from state delegations, and from committees, each with its own rules for distribution and application.
