The president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, blamed Russia and Israel for the migration crisis in Ceuta, calling the incident an attack on Europe. Sánchez said authorities are investigating the situation.
Around five thousand migrants still remain in Ceuta, a Spanish city in north Africa, after the migration crisis that erupted in recent days.
The Spanish prime minister also paid tribute to Morocco, praising the country for how it managed the situation, in a gesture of gratitude for the border control that Madrid considers to have been fundamental.
Spanish authorities continue to work to manage the migratory flow and investigate the circumstances that led to what Sánchez classified as an attack on Europe.
