The Intermunicipal Community of Douro (CIM Douro) will present in Brussels a selection of products and flavors that reflect the diversity and gastronomic heritage of the Douro territory. The initiative, called "Ancient Roots, Competitive Future: Tasting the Douro", takes place on October 14th, between 10:30 and 13:30, as part of the programming of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2026.
The tasting session aims to introduce products that go beyond the traditional association of the Douro with wine, including altitude olive oils, almonds, honey, cheeses, sausages and artisan bread. The event will also be an opportunity to highlight producers and knowledge connected to the territory, many of which have been passed down between generations.
With this participation in the European context, CIM Douro seeks to reinforce the region's visibility and showcase the potential of its endogenous products. The initiative aims to emphasize the relationship between tradition, local resources and capacity for innovation, presenting the territory as a region capable of combining heritage and tradition with new opportunities for development and competitiveness.
