The Instituto dos Advogados Brasileiros (IAB) received last week videos of historical trials held by the Military Justice during the period of the military dictatorship in Brazil. The material was delivered by Minister Maria Elizabeth Rocha, president of the Superior Military Tribunal (STM).
The collection includes the defense hearings of Técio Lins e Silva and Sobral Pinto, both lawyers known for their work during the military regime. The material also contains the trial of Tarso Genro, who at the time was a student in Santa Maria, in Rio Grande do Sul.
Tarso Genro was brought to trial for creating an academic center during the dictatorship. The videos represent important historical documents about political repression and the military justice system during that period.
