A Aurora do Lima31 August 2026 at 10:21

The Health Unit of Alvarães opened on August 31, representing an investment of 2.8 million euros, of which 2.6 million were supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The unit is located next to the civic center of the parish of Alvarães, in the municipality of Viana do Castelo.

The construction was carried out on land provided by the municipal council, with the project being the responsibility of the municipality. Subsequently, the facility was handed over to the Local Health Unit of Alto Minho (ULSAM), responsible for its management. On a provisional basis, patients from the Barroselas Health Center, which is undergoing renovation works, will also be seen at the new facilities.

The space has a reception area, service counter, waiting room with a children's area, five nursing rooms, six medical offices, two treatment rooms, a meeting room, and technical areas. The project was divided into three parts: main road access, the building itself, and exterior improvements with a parking lot.

Last June, the mayor of Viana do Castelo, Luís Nobre, accompanied by the councilor for Health Promotion, Ricardo Rego, and the chairman of ULSAM's Board of Directors, José Cardoso, visited the unit. During the visit, Luís Nobre said the work was "done with passion" and that all those involved in the project worked well together. With this unit, the left bank of the municipality is better equipped to offer quality and efficient health services.

Why do real estate fund shares fall?

In the CBN Dinheiro program, financial specialist Marcelo d'Agosto explained the two factors that determine the decline in real estate fund share prices. The first, of a general nature, is linked to long-term interest rates, especially the remuneration of IPCA Treasury bonds: when these interest rates rise, the value of real estate fund shares tends to fall, as the monthly distributions paid by the funds become relatively less attractive compared to the higher returns available in Treasury bonds, causing the share price to adjust downward. The second factor is specific to each fund and depends on their individual characteristics.
