Alentejo teams with different fortunes in the first round of the Portuguese Cup

The first round of the Portuguese Cup brought mixed results for Alentejo teams. Among the formations that secured passage to the next phase, Portel stands out, having won away at Messejanense 8-0, Grupo União Sport, which defeated Juventud SC 4-1 in a match between teams from the Évora Football Association, Aljustrelense, which beat Ferreiras 3-0, and Serpa, which overcame CR O Grandolense 2-0.

Conversely, several Alentejo teams saw their journey end early in the competition. Lusitano de Évora was defeated at home by Belenenses 2-1 in a match between Liga 3 teams, while SC Viana do Alentejo lost 3-0 away to Clube de Futebol Benfica. CD Portalegrense SAD was also eliminated after losing 3-0 to CD Santo António, and Castrense was defeated at home by Louletano by the narrow margin of 1-0.

The match between O Elvas and GD São Roque, two Alentejo teams, is still to be played, scheduled for 11:00 AM on September 6th. Thus, Portel, Aljustrelense, Serpa, and Juventud SC celebrate their qualification for the next round of the Portuguese Cup.
