The Minister of Youth and Children, Sira Rego, appeared before the Congress of Deputies in a live session to report on the crisis in Ceuta. The appearance took place at the minister's own request, who decided to account for the actions of her government department.
The main objective of Sira Rego's intervention was to report on the work carried out by her Ministry to ensure the care and protection of the rights of unaccompanied children, adolescents and young people who are in the autonomous city of Ceuta.
The situation that prompted this appearance is related to the arrival of unaccompanied minors in the city of Ceuta from July 30 onwards. The Ministry of Youth and Children has been responsible for coordinating the response to this humanitarian crisis affecting foreign minors without family accompaniment.
