The deadline for taxpayers to regularize the final IRS adjustment for 2025 income ends this Monday. Thousands of taxpayers who received a payment notice from the Tax Authority have until today to pay the amount owed to the State. This date also marks the end of the calendar for completing the IRS assessment process for those who complied with the legal deadlines for submitting their income declaration.
The IRS campaign took place between April 1 and June 30, and until July 31 the Tax and Customs Authority was required to complete the verification of declarations, determine the tax due, and issue assessments. From that moment, taxpayers with tax owed had one month to make the payment.
The result of the assessment can have three distinct scenarios: refund when the taxpayer advanced more tax than was due, additional payment when withholdings were insufficient, or no adjustment. The legislation provides for minimum limits, with amounts under 25 euros not being collected and refunds under ten euros not being returned.
This Monday is also the last day for the Tax Authority to complete the payment of refunds to taxpayers who submitted their declaration on time. If refunds are not processed by the end of the legal deadline, the Tax Authority is required to pay the respective interest in accordance with the IRS Code.
