Juliana Brizola (PDT), former state deputy, is running for governor of Rio Grande do Sul seeking to bring laborism back to Palácio Piratini. The state election is marked by polarization between right and left, with a fierce race against Luciano Zucco (PL) and Gabriel Souza (MDB) running as dark horses.
Juliana's campaign has an unprecedented alliance with the PT, which gave up the top of the ticket and indicated Edegar Pretto for vice. She also relies on the legacy of her grandfather, former Governor Leonel Brizola, a historical figure of Gaucho laborism.
Juliana criticizes the economic model adopted by the state in recent years, based on fiscal adjustment and the Fiscal Recovery Regime. The candidate promises to use debt renegotiation to expand investments in education, health, and infrastructure.
Additionally, Juliana advocates maintaining the Rio Grande Plan Fund (Funrigs) for two more years, created to address the climate disaster that hit the state.
