The federal government is trying to approve this week the provisional measure that ends the so-called "little blouses" tax, a 20% charge on international purchases of up to US$ 50. The rush occurs amid the electoral campaign period, within the concentrated effort of the National Congress.
A joint commission made up of deputies and senators was created to analyze the proposal, with the vote scheduled for this Monday. The chairman of the commission is Deputy Reginaldo Lopes, from the PT party of Minas Gerais.
After being approved by the commission, the text still needs to pass through the floors of the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate to become law. However, the report to be considered by the commission members still depends on negotiations among the parliamentarians.
