EN255 reopened to traffic between Portel and Reguengos de Monsaraz after motorcycle accident

The National Road 255 (EN255) was reopened to traffic between Portel and Reguengos de Monsaraz after being closed during the afternoon due to a motorcycle accident. The road was closed at kilometre 67.7, on the section between Amieira and São Marcos do Campo, following an accident that caused one seriously injured person.

The motorcycle accident resulted in one seriously injured person, who had to be airlifted to receive medical care. The alert for the accident was given at 17:17, which mobilised emergency services to the scene.

A total of 23 operatives attended the scene supported by seven vehicles and a helicopter from the Instituto Nacional de Emergência Médica (INEM), the Volunteer Firefighters and the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), who coordinated the rescue operations and road management.

The closure occurred on the link between the municipalities of Portel and Reguengos de Monsaraz, both located in the district of Évora, in the Central Alentejo region.
