The German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, announced that Germany is about to conclude the investigations into a hybrid attack in Leipzig and that it will respond in a coordinated manner with the European Union and NATO partners. The statement was made during the traditional "summer interview" with the German public broadcaster ARD.
According to Merz, there is a broad consensus in the German Government on how to respond to this incident, and the response will be clearly expressed in the coming days. The chancellor assured that it will not be much longer until the official position is announced.
The German reaction was previously agreed with the EU and with NATO allies, showing a coordinated approach among Western countries to address this type of hybrid threats. The response plan will be finalized shortly, according to Merz.
