A year after the fire that killed multiple people at the Misericordia nursing home in Mirandela, responsibilities for the tragedy have not yet been established. The fire was deadly and resulted in fatalities among the elderly who lived in the institution.
Due to the lack of an accountability process, the victims' families have not received any compensation. The compensation proceedings remain suspended while authorities do not conclude the investigations.
The institution, managed by the Santa Casa da Misericordia, reopened three months ago, continuing to operate normally despite the judicial process still ongoing to clarify the causes and responsibilities of the fire.
