The German executive has avoided directly mentioning Russia, referring only to a "foreign power", although sources from German intelligence services point to the involvement of Russian intelligence services. On the night of August 4, a drone with an explosive payload was found at Leipzig airport, with the alleged target being a Ukrainian cargo plane transporting military material. A second drone is said to have collided with a DHL cargo plane, causing damage to the stabilizer. On August 14, another drone with explosives was also discovered near the airfield.
