PCP leader sees attack on teachers hidden in Montenegro's promises

SAPO Notícias30 August 2026 at 22:15

PCP leader Raimundo warned about what he considers to be an attack on teachers hidden in Prime Minister Luís Montenegro's promises. The criticism centers on the alteration of the teaching career, which, according to the communist leader, had already been denounced by the party as a threat.

Raimundo emphasized that "the main issue is the alteration of the teaching career of teachers," reiterating the warnings that the PCP has made over time on this matter. The party sees in Montenegro's proposals a setback in the rights and conditions of teachers.

This position arises in the context of the political debate on the valorization of the teaching profession in Portugal, with the PCP positioning itself as a defender of teachers against the executive led by the PSD.
