Senator and candidate for President of the Republic Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) publicly criticized on Instagram a montage that associated his image with that of Eduardo Paes (PSD),candidate for governor of Rio de Janeiro. The image was published by João Vitor Alves, president of MDB Youth in Duque de Caxias, who declared a vote for Paes for state governor and for Bolsonaro for president.

In the publication's comment,Bolsonaro rejected what he called a 'coupled vote' with Eduardo Paes. The senator stated that Paes is a 'soldier' and 'sidekick' of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT),in addition to working for the continuity of the current federal government.

Flávio Bolsonaro also declared support for Douglas Ruas, candidate from the same party (PL) for governor of Rio de Janeiro. The senator asked for votes for Ruas in the same publication in which he criticized the association with Paes.

The episode occurs amid the 2022 elections, when various candidates seek support from influential political figures to strengthen their campaigns, even when they belong to opposing parties.
