Minister Dias Toffoli, from the Superior Electoral Court, ordered the removal from the agenda of the candidacy registration process of presidential candidate Renan Santos. The decision was made after Toffoli identified what he called "signs of illegality" in the registration process of the presidential ticket.
The central issue raised by the minister concerns the detail of the social media accounts presented by Renan Santos's candidacy. According to the decision, candidates Renan Antônio Ferreira dos Santos and Aroldino Medina reported a total of 18 social media profiles only in petitions filed on August 19, 2026, nearly two weeks after the initial submission of the registration to the Electoral Justice, which had occurred on August 7.
Electoral legislation requires that all candidates' communication channels on the internet be declared at the time of the registration process. Because the complete list of social media accounts was presented after the initial submission of the registration, Toffoli decided to remove from the agenda the analysis of the process until the matter is clarified.
