Different social networks use distinct criteria to count video views. The same view can be recorded at very different moments depending on which platform is being used to watch the content.
While some social networks register a view as soon as video playback begins, other platforms require the user to watch at least one or two seconds of the content before counting it as a view. There are even those that only count when the video plays for 30 seconds or more.
This variation in measurement criteria means that the view counts reported by different social networks are not directly comparable to each other. Each platform defines its own rules about what constitutes a view, making it difficult to make accurate analyses about the actual reach of a video across different platforms.
