"Prevention must become our priority. We need a more robust continental early warning system" – Mahmoud Ali Youssouf

Mahmoud Ali Youssouf advocated on Sunday, the 30th, in Luanda, during the 21st Extraordinary Summit of the African Union (AU) on prevention, that prevention must become an absolute priority for the African continent.

The chairperson of the AU Commission called for the creation of a more robust continental early warning system, capable of identifying and responding to threats before they turn into conflicts.

Additionally, Youssouf emphasized the need for more effective implementation of African Union decisions, sustainable funding for peace operations, and a fully operational Peace Fund to ensure adequate resources for peacekeeping initiatives on the continent.
