Amarante achieved on Sunday their first ever victory in professional championships by defeating Benfica B 1-0, in a match from the fourth round of II Liga. The goal that decided the encounter was scored in the first half.

This result represents a historic milestone for the Amarante club, which is competing for the first time in II Liga, the second tier of Portuguese football. Until this date, the club had never managed a victory in professional competitions.

Benfica B, the youth team of the red-and-white club, thus adds another defeat in this early stage of the season. The red-and-white side has yet to earn any points in the competition.

With this result, Amarante earns their first three points in II Liga, something that represents a historic moment for the Minho club in their first season in Portuguese professional football.
