Joaquim, a shepherd, came down from the highlands of Serra da Estrela on August 23rd, after two months of solitude in the pastures. The return was made towards the town of Gouveia municipality, accompanied by almost 500 sheep and goats. The shepherd lives this routine of solitude and isolation during the periods he remains in the high-altitude pastures. Over more than 40 years, Joaquim has repeated this route, climbing and descending the mountain with his animals, in a tradition that marks the rhythm of his life.

Iran: Leader calls on Muslim countries to unite against US and Israel

Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, called on Muslim countries to unite against the United States and Israel, in a written message cited by AFP. Khamenei, who succeeded his father who died in February, stated that the solution to the problems of the Muslim Umma lies in unity and cooperation, designating the US and Israel as the "true enemy" of all Muslim countries. In response to the Israeli-American offensive, Iran attacked countries allied with Washington in the region and blocked the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's oil circulates, generating fears of a global economic crisis. Tehran faces a US naval blockade and hardened sanctions on Monday, with Khamenei also calling for the progressive "de-dollarization" of the Iranian economy.
