Fretilin decides not to present candidate for Timor-Leste presidential elections

The central committee of the Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor (Fretilin) decided that the party will not present a candidate for the 2027 presidential elections. The decision was communicated through a statement released to the press today.

Fretilin is the main opposition party in Timor-Leste. The decision comes at a time of preparation for the next electoral cycles in the country.
