The festivities in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary returned to São Martinho de Angueira, in the municipality of Miranda do Douro, in a celebration that brought the community together around one of the most representative cultural manifestations of the Mirandese Plateau. The program included the traditional fundraising, the celebration of mass and the procession through the village streets, keeping local traditions alive.
Among the most symbolic moments was the delivery of the Pauliteiros' hats to Our Lady, which were placed under her mantle as a gesture of devotion and protection. This act represents the entrusting of this tradition to the village's patron saint.
The cultural program also featured the performance of the young Pauliteiros and Pauliteiras group, in an encounter between generations that aims to perpetuate this popular tradition. Music and dance were present as central elements of the celebrations.
The festivities once again demonstrated the strong connection between religious devotion, popular culture and intangible heritage, reinforcing the importance of this tradition that is part of the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
