Matosinhos requests 40ME loan to build 500 affordable rental homes

TV RECORD EUROPA30 August 2026 at 11:02

The municipality of Matosinhos will request a loan of 40 million euros to build 500 affordable rental homes. The local authority made this decision to alleviate the problem of housing shortage in the region.

The new homes are intended for families who have difficulty accessing the traditional real estate market, offering more affordable rents than those practiced in the private market.

According to the local authority, the 500 homes should be completed within three to four years, which represents a significant investment in addressing the demand for affordable housing in the municipality.
