The 20th Volta a Portugal de Juniores has a new leader. Brazilian Dimas Mota, representing the Picusa Academy team, took over the command of the General Classification after a time trial in Sabugal this Saturday. The Brazilian rider benefited from his performance in this timed stage to ascend to the race leadership.
The time trial held in Sabugal was won by Dutchman Loek Hovers, athlete from the Willebrord Wil Vooruit team. This individual stage victory allowed Hovers to stand out among the competitors in the juniors competition.
Dimas Mota thus became the new leader of the race's general classification. The Brazilian took over the leadership from Tomás Mateus, who was the previous leader and represented the Electromercantil GR-100 team, but was starting the time trial in that position.
