Berlin is the target of a ransomware attack carried out by the Rhysida hacker collective. The attack, which occurred two weeks ago, allowed the hackers to obtain data from the city. The hackers are now demanding a ransom of 30 bitcoins, equivalent to approximately two million euros, threatening to release the data if payment is not made.
Berlin's mayor reacted on Friday to the situation, ensuring that the city will not give in to blackmail. The information was reported by the German weekly Der Spiegel, citing a security source. The newspaper indicates that the authors of the attack belong to the Rhysida group.
