The phenomenon of scams involving fake accidents is advancing throughout the country, also affecting the Alentejo region. This type of fraud involves the simulation of accidents to obtain fraudulent compensation, becoming a growing concern for authorities.
In the Alentejo region, Portalegre and Évora each recorded one case of this fraudulent practice. These occurrences demonstrate that the phenomenon is spreading beyond major urban centers.
The district of Beja stands out as the most affected in the region, with three reported occurrences. This number is particularly significant considering that Beja surpassed several territories with larger populations in terms of reported cases.
The concentration of cases in Beja, compared to districts with larger populations, suggests that this area may be becoming a focal point for this criminal activity, raising questions about the reasons that make this territory particularly vulnerable to this type of scam.
