The National Republican Guard warned about the significant increase in scams through the simulation of traffic accidents in Portugal. In the first half of 2026, 30 complaints were registered, representing an increase of 15.4% compared to the same period in 2025.
The financial losses already amount to 72,540 euros, a figure that almost matches the 77,480 euros recorded during the entire previous year. The most serious case reportedly involved an amount of 15,450 euros.
Geographically, the district of Faro leads the number of incidents with six registered cases.
