Flash floods in northern Nepal destroyed houses, roads and bridges, leaving thousands of people in a vulnerable situation. The Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts are among the most affected.
There are isolated communities, especially along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers, with difficulties accessing essential goods and services.
The Nepal Red Cross is on the ground providing assistance to the affected populations, with distribution of drinking water, shelter materials, blankets, mats and first aid kits.
Given the situation, the Portuguese Red Cross launched a humanitarian appeal to raise funds to reinforce support for the flood victims in Nepal.
