The United States notified Brazil due to the investigation of an incident involving the Marine One helicopter, which was transporting American President Donald Trump, on August 4. On that occasion, the aircraft carrying Trump passed just over one kilometer from a commercial plane operated by Envoy Air, an Embraer E-170.
The incident occurred near Washington airport, in Arlington, Virginia. Brazil received the notification because the Embraer E-170 involved in the episode is an aircraft of Brazilian design. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) was notified as the representative of the state that designed the aircraft.
After the occurrence, both aircraft continued their trajectories. There were no reports of injuries. According to a report released by the NTSB on Thursday (27), the incident occurred due to communication problems between the airport's air traffic frequencies.
