A dammed lake created by the avalanche that hit the border between Nepal and Tibet overflowed and suspended rescue operations this Friday (28). Authorities identified that a river was blocked by debris in Tibet, an autonomous region in southeastern China, forming the lake. With more rain forecast, there is a high risk of the barrier breaking and new floods in the coming days, and residents were advised to stay away from river banks.

There are already 469 confirmed deaths and the number of missing exceeds a thousand, with more than 800 tourists from 35 countries. So far, there is no information about Brazilians among the victims. Nearly 16,000 people are homeless.

U.S. President Donald Trump said the country will offer aid to Nepal and that, according to the Republican, up to 60 Americans may be on the list of missing.

The tragedy began on Wednesday (26) with the collapse of a glacier in the mountains. The avalanche advanced at about 50 km/h.
