Taylor Swift participated in the 2026 Emmy Awards in a pre-recorded skit with the host of the evening, actress Mariska Hargitay. The segment recreated an investigation scene from "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," a series Hargitay has starred in since 1999.
The Emmy producers revealed to Variety magazine how they convinced the singer to participate in the event. According to executive producer Dionne Harmon, Mariska and Taylor are real friends, which made the invitation easier. "It's like: 'let me call Tay Tay!'" Harmon said about the friendship between the two.
The idea to bring the two together on the broadcast was one of the first to come up when the producers started planning the event. Taylor Swift, known for her busy schedule and rare appearances at events outside of music, ended up giving in to the invitation, stealing the show on Monday night.
