The president of the Association of Service Provider Doctors accused the Government of having intentionally postponed the cuts to tarefeiro payments until October, in order to avoid staffing shortages in emergency departments during the summer period. The decree establishing the new rules is said to have been strategically designed after the bathing season.
The association led by Nuno Figueiredo e Sousa expressed criticism of the measure, considering that the government decision essentially aims to prevent human resources problems in hospital emergency departments during the months of highest demand, postponing the financial consequences for tarefeiro professionals until later.
Nuno Figueiredo e Sousa also stated that the budgetary impact of this policy will be reduced, thereby questioning the economic effectiveness of the cuts proposed by the Executive for this group of doctors.
