MEO was targeted by an attack on its international network, but the operator reported that no data was compromised, either from the company or from its customers. The incident was caused by a distributed denial of service attack, known as DDoS, which generated instability in data routing between major networks.
MEO's technical team acted quickly to ensure the protection of the systems and managed to prevent any type of intrusion. Thanks to this immediate intervention, the operator's systems were not violated and data integrity was preserved.
The episode was duly reported to the National Cybersecurity Centre, which is the entity responsible for coordinating cybersecurity in Portugal. MEO ensured that the situation was controlled and that no serious consequences were recorded for the company's infrastructure or for the data of its users.
