Observador15 September 2026 at 17:12

Pedro Cabrita Reis presents around 200 unpublished works in his first solo exhibition at MAAT, a museum that also houses his collection of contemporary art. The exhibition is titled "the heart free of care." The Portuguese artist, one of the most recognized names in national and international contemporary art, thus returns to a space that maintains a privileged relationship with his work. MAAT simultaneously celebrates its 10th anniversary, a milestone that gives additional relevance to this presentation. This is a large-scale exhibition that reveals a vast and renewed artistic production from the creator, marking a significant moment both in his career and in the history of the Lisbon institution.

Why this matters

Readers in Lisbon now have access to a rare retrospective of one of the most important contemporary Portuguese artists, with more than two hundred works never before exhibited. The exhibition simultaneously celebrates a decade of MAAT as a reference cultural institution, offering a significant cultural program for residents and visitors of the city.
