The road safety campaign "Buckle Up Alive" presents a positive assessment, indicating a reduction in the number of victims on Portuguese roads during the period of 8 to 14 September. During that week, 2,800 accidents were recorded across the country.
Regarding accident data, the report counts seven fatalities, 70 serious injuries and 972 minor injuries resulting from the recorded accidents.
Compared to the same period in 2025, there is an improvement in road safety indicators. The number of deaths decreased by three, serious injuries dropped by four and minor injuries decreased by 14.
The results suggest that the "Buckle Up Alive" campaign has contributed to greater awareness among drivers and passengers about the importance of seatbelt use, resulting in fewer victims on Portuguese roads.
