ESEUC launches postgraduate programme in Dialysis Nursing to address chronic kidney disease

Diário de Coimbra15 September 2026 at 15:52

The School of Nursing at the University of Coimbra (ESEUC) will launch a postgraduate programme in Dialysis Nursing. The course aims to train nurses with advanced skills for the care of people with chronic kidney disease.

The programme will be in-person and offers 20 places for interested candidates. This educational offering comes as a response to the growing need for specialised professionals in this area of healthcare.

The postgraduate programme is scheduled to begin in February 2027. The curriculum focuses on developing specific clinical and technical skills for the monitoring of patients undergoing dialysis treatment.

Why this matters

This training responds to the growing demand for specialized professionals in dialysis, an area expanding due to the increase in chronic kidney disease. Nurses in the Coimbra region and across the country benefit from a locally available specialisation opportunity, while the health system will have better prepared professionals to care for these patients.
