Évora was the chosen city to host the first headquarters of a national sports federation in the Alentejo region, with the official establishment of the Portuguese Parachuting Federation in the municipality.
The vice-president of Évora's Municipal Council, Jerónimo José, explained to journalists that the choice of the Alentejo city is due to Évora's strong connection to parachuting, among other factors that reinforce the relevance of this decision.
The federation will have its headquarters at Évora's municipal aerodrome, where investments in existing infrastructure are also planned.
Besides the sporting impact, the practice of parachuting is highlighted as an engine for training and tourist attraction for the region.
