The Inner Beltway (VCI) in Greater Porto began implementing new restrictions on the circulation of trucks and other heavy goods vehicles this Tuesday. The circulation ban applies daily between 07:00 and 21:00, covering most of the daytime period.
The objective of this measure is to remove thousands of trucks from one of the most congested roads in the Greater Porto region. The VCI is a road with strong traffic pressure, where the presence of heavy vehicles contributed significantly to the mobility problems.
With the new rules taking effect, trucks are being diverted to alternative routes. This change in the route of heavy vehicles may imply additional costs for transport and logistics companies operating in the region.
