During her speech, the government official stated that the regulation is about to be approved, thus allowing the specific amounts that will be assigned to these professionals to be known.
The term "tarefeiros" (temporary workers) refers to health professionals who work through temporary or casual contracts, often on a task-based basis. The issue of payments to these workers has been a constant concern in the health sector in Portugal.
Ana Paula Martins stated that "that's all I can say" when asked for more details, suggesting there are limitations on the information that can be revealed at this stage. The minister is in Coimbra for commitments related to the health sector.
The publication of the ordinance comes at a time when the ministry is seeking to resolve pending issues regarding the remuneration of temporary workers, who have been demanding better conditions and fairer values for the services provided to the national health system.
