Mariana Leitão, in the closing speech of the parliamentary days of the Liberal Initiative (IL) in Porto, harshly criticized the Government, accusing it of presenting a reading of Portuguese reality that does not correspond to people's lives.
The IL leader stated that the executive has been claiming "for over a year" that the country lives "in a kind of wonderland", a narrative that, according to Leitão, although it "looks very good in a press conference", does not solve the concrete problems of citizens.
Mariana Leitão emphasized that this optimistic reading by the Government "does not pay the rent nor put food on the table", highlighting the gap between government discourse and the real difficulties faced by the population.
The liberal leader also took the opportunity to defend the need to think "beyond the next term", advocating for a policy with a long-term vision that goes beyond immediate concerns with electoral cycles.
