Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stated this Tuesday that Portugal is a mature democracy with a very qualified justice system and good professionals, even though results are never perfect. The statements were made during the inauguration of the new Palace of Justice in Beja.
Montenegro reacted to the recurring idea that justice is in crisis, stating that this expression "is something associated with the system itself" and "will never disappear", arguing that "today some are resolved, tomorrow others appear". He also defended that "essentially, the system works and works better".
The prime minister noted that there will always be a tendency, in the media space, for some cases, sometimes just one, to create a sensation of almost impediment or blockage.
The new building of the Beja Courthouse has 3,562 square meters of area distributed over three floors, with seven courtrooms, two videoconference rooms, 27 offices, archive and training spaces, and a children's reception area. The total investment amounted to 5,717,540.16 euros, plus the VAT value.
