MinisterFlávio Dino, of the Supreme Federal Court, asked Chief Justice Edson Fachin to investigate a possible relationship between Banco Master, the Iter Institute (linked to Minister André Mendonça), and contracts signed with the São Paulo City Hall. The decision was made in an action that discusses the rules for the operation of private cemeteries in the capital city.
Dino cites a series of circumstances that, according to him, need to be clarified. One of the points involves André Mendonça's role in the case about São Paulo's private cemeteries. When the trial resumed in April 2025, Mendonça voted against maintaining a precautionary measure that affected private cemeteries.
In Dino's assessment, the vote ended up serving the interests of the cemetery sector companies. The minister also draws attention to the role of Mendonça's brother, Alexandre de Almeida Mendonça, at SP Regula, the agency responsible for regulating public services in São Paulo.
