Downtown Orlando will host the third edition of the Orlando Mural Festival between September 17 and 19, bringing together approximately 15 local, national, and international artists to transform walls and urban spaces into large open-air works of art. The event is an initiative of the Downtown Arts District and CityArts, presented by the Downtown Development Board.
The program kicks off on Thursday, September 17, from 6 PM to 9 PM, at CityArts, during the Third Thursday event, featuring a special exhibition at Signature Gallery showcasing works by muralists from previous editions. The main celebration takes place on Saturday, September 19, from 2 PM to 10 PM, when the public can watch artists working live at different spots throughout Downtown Orlando and the Thornton Park area.
Among the locations receiving new murals are Orange Avenue, Robinson Street, Church Street, Pittman Street, and Washington Street. In addition to the large permanent murals, the program includes artists producing live works, art vendors, music, DJs, food vendors, and other cultural activities, with free admission.
The festival aims not only to color walls but to create an artistic identity for Downtown Orlando, bringing together residents, visitors, merchants, and artists. For a city known worldwide for its theme parks, the event adds a new dimension to the urban experience, allowing the city to be discovered through art and creativity as well.
