Explorer Investments announced the completion of the first close of Explorer Buyout Fund V, a capital-raising phase that exceeded its initial targets. The new fund aims to surpass 100 million euros by September 2027, with investments to be made over the next four years. The asset management company counted on the support of a diversified group of investors, predominantly international, including institutional investors, family offices and high net worth individual investors, whose participation reflects confidence in the company's strategy and track record.
The fund's investment strategy will focus on profitable Portuguese small and medium-sized companies with solid positions in their respective markets and EBITDA above two million euros. The fund intends to establish partnerships with ambitious management teams to accelerate company growth, strengthen their competitiveness and support international expansion processes. The approach will be sector-agnostic, favoring companies with solid fundamentals and high value creation potential.
The Explorer Buyout Fund V also plans to integrate environmental, social and governance principles throughout the entire investment cycle. Explorer states that it will combine capital with strategic guidance, operational experience and a business network, positioning itself as an active partner of its portfolio companies.
With approximately 1.8 billion euros in assets under management, Explorer Investments positions itself as one of the main alternative asset managers in Portugal. According to André Bandeira, Head of Corporate Development, the fund reinforces the commitment to supporting the next generation of Portuguese companies, creating long-term value for investors and contributing to the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the Portuguese economy.
