The European Central Bank is inviting European citizens to participate in choosing the future designs of euro banknotes. The initiative comes before the end of the public consultation, which is scheduled for 21 September.
Europeans can thus give their opinion on which designs should appear on the upcoming series of the single currency banknotes. This consultation is part of a broader process of modernising the appearance of the euro.
Citizen participation in this process aims to reflect the preferences and values of the European population in the design of the banknotes that will be used in the future. The ECB hopes that this openness to the public will increase citizens' involvement in the common European currency.
