Europress, historical printer in Alvalade neighborhood, sold to national investors

Eco15 September 2026 at 11:01

The Portuguese printing company Europress, a historic establishment in the Alvalade neighborhood in Lisbon, was acquired by national investors Carlos Fernandes Neves and Rui Bello da Silva. The company with 40 years of activity in graphic design, printing and finishing concluded the acquisition process this Monday and is now restarting with new management. The deal was motivated by the succession of the founding family, although the transaction value was not disclosed.

Founded in 1986, Europress has a team of approximately 25 workers and annual turnover of around 1.4 million euros, as well as a history of positive financial results and a portfolio that includes national reference publishers. Carlos Fernandes Neves, former general director of Printer Portuguesa, from the Arvato/Bertelsmann group, VASP and the distributor Jardim, now assumes the position of general director. Mário Conceição, with a career at Printer Portuguesa, Arvato/Bertelsmann, Bertrand/Círculo, Porto Editora and the Walstead Europa group, assumes the role of operations director.

The new owners guarantee they will maintain the continuity of the company's activity and create conditions for its growth and for exploring new business opportunities. Carlos Fernandes Neves stated that the company has a solid track record, accumulated knowledge and consolidated relationships with clients and suppliers, seeing it as an asset with very strong foundations and significant growth potential. Rui Bello da Silva highlighted that they are not starting from scratch, but rather from a consolidated company, with an experienced team and deep market knowledge.

The former managers Carlos Vintém and Mafalda Vintém will remain connected to the firm initially to accompany the transition to the new structure and guarantee the continuity of operations and the transfer of responsibilities.

Why this matters

Readers in Lisbon learn that a historic establishment in Alvalade, with four decades of activity and 25 workers, changed hands. The acquisition reflects the dynamics of business success and generational replacement in Lisbon's industrial fabric, where family businesses face the challenge of continuity. Europress's clients, which include reference publishers, can expect a transition without disruptions, according to the new managers.
