An area equivalent to one third of Caiçaras Island, in Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, in Rio de Janeiro, will be auctioned on Tuesday at 11am, at Rioprevidência's headquarters, in the city center. The initial bid is about R$ 23.4 million and the auction will be in person.
The property belongs to the Single Social Security Fund of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Rioprevidência), which put the area up for sale as part of its plan to divest its real estate portfolio.
The space is occupied by Clube dos Caiçaras, which has used the location for decades for social, sports, and recreational activities. Three months before the auction, on May 5, Rioprevidência renewed for one year the usage authorization of the so-called "1/3 of the island," a document that provides for the continued occupation by the club.
